One of the perks of living in Europe is being able to travel. We’re trying to take advantage of that while also keeping the kids’ interests in mind. We just took an overnight trip to Pisa, Italy. It was great! We figured at ages 6 and 4, they aren’t going to get too much out of many places in Italy, but a tower that’s not straight, that’ll get their attention! We flew in, unpacked at the hotel. Walked 5 minutes to our first stop (lunch near the Arno River) and then another 10 minutes to the leaning tower of Pisa. I was able to go inside (you must be 8 years or older) and up the almost 300 flights of marble stairs. It was cool and in one picture if you look closely, you can see Paul and the kids waving to me from the ground. The only drawback was dinner that night at an Irish pub instead of delicious Italian food. It seems that the Italians (like the Belgians) like to start dinner at 7:30 or later and weren’t open when our kids were “starving”. Paul insists the Irish Pub was the only place open and swears he wasn’t swayed by the gigantic Guiness sign out front! :) Guess that means we’ll have to take another trip (maybe to the Amalfi Coast) to get authentic Italian food!
