Pumpkin Festival

We love our new neighbors! They moved in when we came back from the US and it’s been an instant friendship. Jeff is American. Marina is Belgian. They’ve lived in Germany, the US, and Belgium. They have an 8 year old daughter whom the kids adore. Nick and Savannah whistle when they are outside and want the attention of the other one. Lindsey just yells, “Savannah!!!!!!” It’s too cute.

All 7 of us drove in my car to a pumpkin festival (fete des potirons in French) in the town where they were living, Nivelles, which is just south of Waterloo. It was fun to celebrate fall and get in the mood for Halloween. We bought homemade pumpkin bread and soup. Yum! Afterwards we went to a great park in Nivelles and the kids played.

Blankenberge Sand Sculpture Exhbition

On Sunday, August 30th, we drove to Blankenberge (which is a beach town on the coast) for a pirate themed sand sculpture exhibition. It was truly amazing to see what these artists can do. We learned they ship in special sand that is different from what is on the beach as that sand is too round from the ocean. Blankenberge is a cute town and I’m sure we’ll head back there to explore some more.
